I've worked in the DC Metro area since 1995, performing a variety of marketing and graphic design services, expanding my knowledge and skill set with each opportunity.

January 4, 2009 — October 31, 2108

I served as Marketing Coordinator for Color Wheel, a home décor, premium paint, and custom picture framing retailer. Creation, execution, promotion, and results tracking for campaigns was one of my primary duties.

My responsibilities included email marketing, branding, graphic design, social media, photography, website updates, reputation management, new mover letters, event planning, public relations, and McLean Little League/community liaison.

Email Marketing

As the sole administrator, I wrote, designed, and distributed 200+ Constant Contact campaigns including monthly newsletters, email blasts, surveys, event invitations, and coupons. Open rates varied but were as high as 29.5% in 2018, which is more than twice the industry average.

Graphic Design

Projects included advertisements, logos, vehicle graphics, storefront window graphics, custom social media graphics, gift certificates, banners, signs, brochures, forms, business cards, and postcards.

Vendor Liaison

I utilized marketing assets from Hunter Douglas, Farrow & Ball, Benjamin Moore, and Lafayette Interior Fashions, as well as décor, custom framing, gift, and card vendors to create custom campaigns.

Social Media

I posted regularly on Facebook and Instagram and monitored the online presence on Yelp, Google, and Houzz. The posts were primarily original content, featuring paint tint art, custom picture framing, décor, and gift items. Vendors and retailers shared the content, boosting the store's online visibility.

Website Updates

Working with ChannelNet, I updated the Benjamin Moore and Hunter Douglas websites. I created several new pages on the Benjamin Moore website and worked with other vendors that offered microsites. Through regular updates, I kept the content and promotions current.

Industry Research

Under the guidance of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), SCORE, I made secret shopper visits to analyze competitor paint, home décor, and custom framing retailers. Based on the results of my research, I created a campaign comparing the price points of good, better, and best custom framing. The text and photos were featured in an email blast, on the website, and on social media.

Color Wheel at Home

I worked extensively with Gallon Creative on At Home magazine, selling advertising to contractors, writing contracts, creating advertisements and custom coupons, and reviewing page proofs.
